Dawn Delahunty is an ACE-certified Medical Exercise Specialist, personal trainer, and health coach who believes good health gives us the freedom to live life fully. After decades in fitness, she founded Health Is Not A Club, LLC in Danville, where she helps people stay strong, confident, and capable at every age. Dawn feels deep gratitude for the generations who came before us—their wisdom, humor, and resilience continue to inspire her. Through the San Ramon Valley Village, she’s thankful for the opportunity to give back by helping seniors remain active, independent, and connected.
Why I want to help seniors: Seniors deserve to age with dignity and a high quality of life because they have provided the building blocks on which we and future generations stand and we can all learn from their experiences.
Terry Church is a retired attorney and former General Manager of the Crow Canyon Homeowners’ Association. As an active member of the Danville San Ramon Rotary Club, Terry enjoys contributing to community initiatives and collaborating with others who share his passion for service. He volunteers at the Valley Oak Respite Center in Danville, supporting seniors living with dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease. After years of participating in HomeTeam—a program of the Lamorinda Village that assists seniors with everyday tasks—Terry played a key role in launching the Village itself. He is honored to help build such a valuable resource for the community and looks forward to making a lasting impact through his continued involvement.
Nicole discovered her love for working with seniors at a young age, while managing a senior living community. What began as a job quickly became a lifelong passion for supporting older adults and creating environments where older adults can be safe, respected, and socially engaged.
She earned her business degree from Cornell University, where she was awarded the distinction of Tradition Fellow for her commitment to service work. That dedication to community involvement has remained a constant throughout her life, from disaster relief work across the country to a year of service abroad. She now works as a real estate asset manager for a Berkeley-based nonprofit and continues to fuel her passion for supporting older adults through her work with the San Ramon Valley Village.
Roxanne has spent her career devoted to non-profit organizations in management positions, as well as marketing and fund development consulting, due to her deep commitment to serving and building community. She finds extra interest in start-up programs and change management facilitation when organizations need to adapt to growth and changing times.
She held positions executing start up programs and organizations in the greater Chicagoland area and in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is especially happy that her efforts with a team to get a hospital built in the Chicago area early in her career remains a prime facility and the fundraiser she worked with others to start has become a regional annual event.
In recent years she was Assistant Director/Development Director for Discovery Counseling Center, John Muir Health’s founding Manager and then Director of Caring Hands, a program for seniors in Contra Costa in addition to the cross-enterprise Guest and Volunteer Services Department. In retirement she has done consulting, served on the Senior advisory Commission for Danville and now is involved on the Executive Committee of the San Ramon Valley Village in its start-up phase. She has watched the Village Program concept grow over the years across the nation and is delighted that we in the San Ramon Valley are implementing such a program here for the growing number of seniors now and to come—often referred to as the “Silver Tsunami.” She serves concurrently on the Board of Directors of Mobility Matters, a program providing transportation services to seniors and veterans in Contra Costa County.
Pradeepthi is a community volunteer who values connection, belonging, and the power of neighbors supporting one another through different stages of life.
Professionally, she is a technology leader focused on improving experiences through thoughtful design, problem-solving, and clear processes. She was drawn to San Ramon Valley Village because of its mission to help people age with dignity, independence, and community.

My name is Becca Burke and I am a longtime resident and volunteer in the San Ramon Valley. I am currently the community service director for the Dougherty Valley San Ramon Rotary Club and I am passionate about keeping you informed on all the great service and community programs available to our seniors.
Mekhala Shekar serves as the Co-Chair for San Ramon Valley Village. She is deeply committed to empowering seniors to continue thriving in their communities. With more than 25 years of combined experience in technology and healthcare, Mekhala works full time in the industry and oversees programs ranging from strategy to execution and operations.
She lives in the San Ramon community and envisions a thriving community built upon nurturing relationships between the different demographics. What motivates Mekhala is her own experience as an immigrant with parents in a distant land.Observing the complexities of this country’s healthcare system and the minimal community support network for a growing older adult population, she always knew she wanted to be there for those whose family wasn’t near-by. While she volunteered periodically for community initiatives, more recently, she decided this time was as good as any to bring the village movement to the San Ramon Valley. She was excited to discover that another resident, Claes Elving had already started the initiative and she signed up to partner with Claes.
Her leadership and compassion will help ensure that the San Ramon Valley Village mission not only meets, but anticipates, the evolving needs of older adults in our community. She is confident the partnerships and collaboration with the local communities will make this a much sought after organization.
I have lived in the San Francisco Bay Area my whole life, starting in Redwood City, then Cupertino. I graduated from San Jose State University in 1979 majoring in Human Resources Administration. I retired in 2019 after working for the Federal Government in Human Resources for 42 years at the following agencies: Mare Island Naval Shipyard, Military Sealift Command, Pacific, U S Forest Service and the U. S. Office of Special Counsel. Other cities that I lived in along the way Include: Vallejo, Pleasant Hill, San Ramon, Walnut Creek, Sausalito and now Danville for 30+ years, where I live with my wife Mary. Our favorite things to do are to spend time with our family, especially our grandchild, and to travel around the world and sail on catamaran sailboats.
My motivation for helping seniors is to prevent them from experiencing what happened to my mother. She lived alone and climbed up on her dining room table to change a light bulb in her chandelier and fell. She hurt herself so badly that she could not get up. Thank God I had given her a Life Alert necklace that she managed to push and Emergency Medical Technicians came and took her to the hospital.

Hi! My name is Mihika and I am currently a student at Dougherty Valley High School. I’ve always felt a special appreciation for seniors and the important role they play in our community. I really enjoy spending time with them, hearing their stories, and learning from their experiences. Being part of San Ramon Valley Village gives me a way to give back and help make sure seniors feel supported, valued, and connected.
Hi! My name is Sophia Lu and I am a student at Ohlone College. What drew me to being a part of the San Ramon Valley Village team was being able to help foster a strong, inclusive network where seniors feel seen, valued, and engaged. Having a community is important at any stage of life and it’s especially important that seniors are able to have that as well.
